How does the machine work?

The Pouchlink™ machine takes a sealed empty pouch from a spool of 250 linked pouches, and automatically removes the cap using a patented technology. It then mixes freshly filtered mains water with concentrated juice and fills it into the pouch to make a refreshing, healthy drink. Finally, the machine puts the cap back on the pouch and dispenses a chilled, packaged drink to the consumer.

Why is it environmentally friendly when it uses plastic packaging?

Normally, at least 90% of a packaged soft drink is water and transporting the heavy water around the world by sea, air or land is very damaging to the environment. Transporting compact, empty pouches and concentrated juice is much better as it weighs about 90% LESS than the equivalent packaged product. Much less material is used in a pouch compared to a PET bottle which helps the environment too, and finally, the machine flash chills a small amount of water, using much less energy (and electricity!) than a conventional vending machine, saving about £1000 in electricity alone over the life of the machine.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the machine is roughly equivalent to a Glass Fronted Vending machine that dispenses packaged drinks. The real saving comes in the cost of the products; because you are taking water out of the distribution chain, you’re removing the cost of transporting heavy finished drinks around the world. Therefore, the cost of each pouch plus syrup can be up to half the equivalent packaged drink. Added to that, the machine is much easier to operate than a conventional vending machine because the capacity is three times as large, meaning less frequent trips to fill. This reduced labour cost goes straight to your bottom line. This reduced labour cost goes straight to your bottom line.

How Many drinks does the machine hold?

The current machine can vend 1000 drinks without the need to clean or refill it. It can also tell you when it needs refilling using telemetry to send a message to your computer or mobile phone.

Do I have to buy the pouches and syrups from you?

Only our pouches work with the machine because of the clever way they link together. We have a great range of syrups available that are proven to produce great drinks in the machine. If you do have your own provider of drinks and providing they are technically compatible with the patented mixing system, then no problem, they can be used. We just need to provide our connector and away you go.

Are the machines difficult to clean?

Cleaning...what cleaning? The machine has a patented environmentally friendly ozone based cleaning system that sterilizes the pipes and nozzles automatically overnight. Other than a wipe down with a damp cloth once in a while, there is no other cleaning required. It really is that easy!

Are your drinks healthy?

Undoubtedly, yes. We went to great pains to formulate drinks that will help consumers meet their health goals. Therefore, none of our drinks contain artificial colours or artificial flavourings and we never put added sugar in our own branded drinks. The flavour and colour in our drinks comes only from fruit and other natural sources. This also means that our drinks are low in calories and don’t add to the growing obesity problem we face in society. Many of our drinks have added vitamins and other functional nutrients, and our kids range of drinks has over 50% natural fruit juice which meets the European legislation for vending in schools. These drinks also count as one of your ‘5 A DAY’.

Are the pouches recyclable?

The pouches are made from Polyethylene Terephthalate (commonly known as PET) and are comprised of a layer of polyethylene terephthalate (pet) and a layer of polyethylene (pe). The caps and spouts are made from High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Both materials are fully recyclable and we are currently planning to provide a full recycling service for you and your clients. The really important thing to remember is that the quantity of packaging material is so much less than a can or bottle equivalent.

How long do the drinks stay fresh?

Most of our drinks will have a shelf life of over 9 months before the bag in box is opened in the machine. Once it is opened, the product will typically stay fresh for over 2 months. The consumer is advised on the packaging to consume their drink on the day of purchase, but if they keep the product refrigerated, it will last longer.

Do the drinks count as one of my 5 A DAY?

Our kids range of drinks contain 50% juice and therefore do count as one of your ‘5 A DAY’.

If I want my own design of pouch, how easy is it to do?

The great thing about the Pouchlink™ machine is that you can create your own brand of soft drink, with your own pouch design! It costs a little more for bespoke pouches (although you’ll be pleasantly surprised!) and you need to commit to a minimum quantity of pouches but, uniquely, Pouchlink™ gives you the ability to offer an own branded packaged drink to your consumers.
